DRIVING FROM MARBELLA: PLACES OF INTEREST
First, we’ll visit Ojén, after a quick drive along A-355. Its 8 kilometres of distance won’t take us longer than 15 minutes. The main sight there is el Palacio de Juanar –currently used as the home of a local co-op. The views are spectacular. And very important –don’t forget to buy a bottle of Aguardiente (liquor) de Ojén!
A longer route is that to Fuengirola along A-7. During the whole journey –28 minutes from the centre– you’ll have the chance to admire some wonderful views of the Mediterranean Sea. Shopping, having lunch in any of its restaurants or going to beaches such as Playa Fuengirola, Las Gaviotas o Los Boliches are the things to do here.
Driving westward along A-7 we’ll get to San Pedro de Alcántara. This motorway will be essential in all our trips from Marbella. You can either drive for 14 minutes from the centre, or take Ricardo Soriano Avenue and N-340 to continue for A-7. It’ll take longer but the views will be more spectacular.
San Pedro de Alcántara has an amazing heritage. Don’t miss the Roman baths, the Paleochristian Basilica Vega del Mar, the Almenara Towers, the Alcoholera or the Trepiche de Guadaiza.
