How to get to Majorca

Palma is also a business city, so whatever the reason that attracts the traveller to the island, pepecar.com offers the possibility of hiring a car in Majorca at different points of the Balearic Island through its search engine, such as Palma de Mallorca International Airport.

The best thing about the city? You don't only have the possibility of arriving by plane to this airport. Therefore, below we show you some of the most significant ways to get to this wonderful city and enjoy all its charm.

By plane:

From Palma de Majorca Airport: just saying that it is one of the busiest airports in Spain is enough to know that this is the most popular way for travellers to reach the island. So, if you land here, don't waste time or money and book a hire car in Majorca to move around freely. When you pick it up, take the Llevant/Ma-19 motorway heading west and in less than 15 minutes you will have arrived, as the distance is about 10 kilometres.

By boat:

Port of Sóller: although it is not the most common option, it is true that many people dock at this port. If this is your case, don't worry. Getting to the capital is very easy. First, use a car hire service. Second, take the Ma-11 road south for 40 minutes. Third, drive the 32 kilometres between the two places with great pleasure. Fourth, enjoy the city of Palma de Majorca as if it were your last trip.

Port of Palma: It is not surprising that lovers of cruises and beautiful islands decide to come to Majorca by boat. Most of these trips have their final meeting point in this port. Once you arrive you can take your car and, taking the Muelle Viejo road for 2 kilometres, you will reach the city centre in less than 10 minutes.

By car:

From Manacor:

Distance: between 32 and 36 kilometres.
Time: approximately 40 to 45 minutes depending on the route you choose to take with your hire car.
Roads: Ma-11; Ma-11 and Ma-2031; or Ma-11 and Ma-1110.
Tolls: Yes.

Car hire route around Majorca

Visiting Majorca is a true paradise and one of the greatest privileges you can have in your entire life.  But, for the most curious, adventurous and travellers, this island has many more places of equal or even greater beauty. Take your car, booked with Pepecar, and join us on this small route around the island.

Sóller

We get back in the car and set off for another point on the island and get a little further away from the city. We take the MA-11 road heading north and drive 33 kilometres to reach Sóller, a small town located in the Tramontana mountain range where fishing boats blend in with the mountain scenery.

Once in this beautiful place, don't hesitate for a second to visit such impressive places as the Torre Picada, the Museum of Sóller, the Museum of the Sea of Sóller, the Botanical Garden or the Church of San Bartolomé. You won't regret it! By car, the journey will take you no more than 45 minutes.

Alcudia

We continue our route through another less explored area of the island. This time we take the MA-13 road for 63 kilometres to reach Alcudia. The coves, crystal-clear waters and cliffs give this town its characteristic beauty. In addition, from the Albufera nature park you can see all kinds of birds and local plants. There are also medieval remains of the town, such as the Xara gate, which was the entrance to the town from the north, made up of two towers and an arch, which still conserves the original gate and the mechanism used to raise and lower it.

And, of course, you can't miss a visit to the Roman City of Pollentia, the Cave of San Martin, the Monographic Museum or the Yannick and Ben Jakober Foundation. On this occasion, the trip will take us only 30 minutes, thanks to our hire car.

Cala Sant Vicent

Taking advantage of the fact that we are in Alcudia, we finish with a short 16-kilometre trip from Alcudia to Cala de Sant Vicenç, in Pollença, along the MA-2220 road. This trip will take you approximately 22 minutes. By the way, you will need to go by car, so book your vehicle now so as not to miss this authentic paradise.

Cala de Sant Vicenç is made up of four other coves, and is the perfect place to rest and contemplate the beauty of the fine white sand and crystal-clear waters that are so characteristic of the beaches in this area. Once here, spend the whole day on the beach, or, if you prefer, admiring the beauty of the Mediterranean between the cliffs and breakwaters. We assure you that when you return home and see the photos (if you take any) of this place, you will want to come back every year.

Travelling by hire car in Majorca

During the whole year, the Balearic island is a perfect destination, with a fantastic climate. From spring onwards, it is the ideal time to enjoy its parties, pilgrimages and popular festivals. A hire car in Palma de Majorca will be essential to be able to visit the small village festivals, such as Les Valentes Dones de Sóller, the Moors and Christians Battle of Pollença, the Sol que Balla in Sant Joan or the Fiestas de Inca.

The Balearic Islands are a destination of many people' choice due to their good weather, their beaches and their range of leisure activities. And among the islands, Majorca is one of the favourites. The best way to get to know it, thanks to its size, is by car. And to do so, you need to know which are the most important places worth visiting. Fasten your seatbelts because we're off to the start!

We begin our journey in the capital of the Balearic Islands, Palma de Majorca. There are several places to visit in the city. We start with the old town, where churches and other buildings brim with personality and architectural beauty. The best known, of course, is Palma Cathedral, on the seafront of the Bay of the Port. The exterior of the building is spectacular, but its interior contains details that can be considered works of art in themselves, such as the chapel or the Puerta Mirador.

After leaving the Cathedral, we headed for the city centre to do some shopping and have an appetizer. Passeig des Born street is lined with all kinds of bars and restaurants, as well as modern and craft shops.

Information about Palma

The city of Palma also has an attractive stretch of coastline dotted with beautiful coves, many of which are one of the main tourist attractions for both nationals and foreigners. Playa de Palma is one of the most popular, in part because it is located very close to the city centre; it has such well-known coves as Ca'n Pastilla, El Arenal or Cala Estancia. Car hire in Palma de Majorca will make it much easier to get around not only the coastal area of the city, but also to discover hidden places all over the island.

The centre of Palma is made up of a network of narrow streets that form the city' s valuable historical heritage mosaic. The best thing to do is to spend some time wandering through its narrow streets and squares admiring the architecture, enjoying unique buildings such as Palma Cathedral, the Arab Baths or Bellver Castle, one of the only circular castles in Europe.

Whatever the case, don't miss this great opportunity. Book your hire car in Majorca and enjoy the best views of one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean.

We have covered part of the history of the island, we have discovered what makes it special and now, we show you a list of nearby places that you can visit with your hire car. First of all, among the best known municipalities of Mallorca, we could highlight Palma, Calviá and Manacor. But there are many others that are also worth a visit:
