I rate it good because for reasons beyond my control I had to cancel the reservation of the vehicle, it cost me a lot because in Pepecar there are different sections and the ones I contacted did not have it as reserved, but they gave me enough information and kindly to locate it in other sections, and so it was, I told my case and they proceeded to cancel the reservation and sent me an email with the cancellation which I appreciate.

How to get to Galicia by car

Galicia is located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. In total, it has three airports connecting Galicia with various parts of Spain and Europe. If you are planning to arrive by plane, Rosalía de Castro Airport in Santiago de Compostela is the largest, both in number of connections and passengers. Therefore, renting a car at Santiago de Compostela Airport is a very good option to start touring the region. The other two airports in the region, Peinador Airport in Vigo and La Coruña Airport, are also very good alternatives.

If you prefer, you can also hire a car in any of the main cities in Galicia, in addition to the extensive network of airports and train stations, where Pepecar is also present. With Pepecar you can hire a car in A Coruña, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela or Sanxenxo. However you arrive, renting a car in Galicia with Pepecar will be very quick, cheap and easy.

Top destinations for car rental in Galicia

Galicia boasts a wealth of tourist attractions for any plan at any time of the year. Car hire in Galicia is highly recommended. The main towns, including the major cities in the community, are characterised by easy access to parking and are very convenient to travel around by car. You can pick up or drive to the city of A Coruña. There you will realise how beautiful this city is, with its magnificent Tower of Hercules, its Riazor Beach or its wild coastline. To end the day, be sure to enjoy the food and the atmosphere in the streets.

On the other hand, don't forget Santiago de Compostela, the cradle of European and world pilgrimage. The imposing Santiago Cathedral awaits you there, surrounded by its lively historic centre, with bagpipes in the background and its bars and terraces full of hearty tapas and dishes that will satisfy your most voracious appetite.

Galicia is also history and Lugo knows a lot about that. Its spectacular city walls, completely surrounding the city centre with almost two and a half kilometres long and 85 towers, will take you back to the ancient Roman city of Lucus Augusti. Built in the second half of the 3rd century, it is still preserved as it was on the first day and allows you to walk around the entire city.

Finally, although you still have a lot of Galicia ahead of you, you can go to Vigo, Galicia's largest city and one of the most populated in Spain. You can't miss the Cíes Islands there. The so-called Olive City leaves no one indifferent, neither in summer with its majestic white sandy beaches, nor in winter with its famous and dazzling Christmas. It is said that the sunsets in this Galician city are the best in the world, but that's up to you. But that's for you to decide - see for yourself!

Gastronomic route through Galicia: a must-do in the region

Galician gastronomy is undoubtedly one of the most varied and richest in the world. This makes it one of the main attractions to visit the community and taste the high quality of its local products. Taking a gastronomic tour of Galicia in a hire car is, without a doubt, a unique experience not to be missed.

There is no better way to explore Galicia than with a hire car, touring its towns and cities, stopping at the most emblematic places to taste its most representative dishes. Along the way, you can enjoy delicacies such as octopus ‘á feira’, pork shoulder with turnip tops, churrasco steak, the famous Galician empanadas and the traditional filloas, among many others. And of course, you can't miss the fresh seafood, such as goose barnacles, which will make you feel like a real Galician.

Along your route, take the opportunity to stop off at one of the more than 300 gastronomic festivals held every year in Galicia. Each one is the perfect opportunity to enjoy local dishes in a unique, festive atmosphere. Don't forget to make a stop to try Galician cheeses, a good wine from the region and, to top it all off, a coffee liqueur or a cream of orujo, the traditional Galician digestives that will put the finishing touch to your route. Galicia awaits you with open arms and a table full of delicacies!
