The history of Pepecar
Pepecar was founded on 22 November 2002 under the umbrella of the Globalia group, under the management of Javier Hidalgo and Miguel de Lucas. It is the first of a conglomerate of brands, conceived by Hidalgo and de Lucas, grouped under the name Pepeworld.
In 2003, the brand was born as a rent a car in Spain. Our objective has always been the same: to offer users an intuitive and reliable tool to find rental cars at the best price.
In January 2009, 50% of Pepecar was acquired by Ibericar, a company owned in equal parts by Mapfre and Salvador Caetano, and in 2011 Pepecar was fully acquired by Ibericar.
Once 100% owned by Ibericar, the new group proposed a change of brand strategy. In the same year, 2011, Pepecar announced the change of model from a more traditional rent a car to a car rental comparator with a third party fleet 100% online, focused on improving the service.
Today we continue to grow and evolve with the market, incorporating new mobility solutions and expanding our coverage so that you can travel around Spain and the five continents with the best guarantees.

The history of Pepecar in the Salvador Caetano Group began in 2009. A few years later, in 2023, we joined the structure of Caetano Retail Spain, another member of the Caetano family.

Pepecar operates as an Online Travel Agency (OTA) or specialist mobility intermediary. Bookings are made directly on the pepecar.com website, where you can compare prices and choose the provider that best suits your needs.
Once you have completed your booking, we process the payment and send you a confirmation voucher. You will need to present this document at the provider's office to collect the vehicle.
The final provider is the one who physically delivers the car to you, but the initial contractual relationship is between you and Pepecar. For any changes, cancellations or queries before collection, your point of contact is always Pepecar.

It was easy but the insurance information is not clear, and the companies try to put you in another insurance when you pick up the car because they say that the one you bought when you booked it is not valid for them and they make you pay a deposit.
