In addition to its cobbled streets and multi-coloured houses with a clear colonial influence, it is characterised by being a very quiet town, ideal for relaxing and escaping the hustle and bustle of the big cities.
Once there you can visit the Torreón del Conde, a 15th century fortress, the Plaza de la Constitución and the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. A curious fact that you may be interested to know is that the port of San Sebastián has a long history, as it was in this port that Christopher Columbus began his voyage to America in 1492.
To continue, we recommend you visit another spectacular spot on the island. Valle Gran Rey, located just an hour and a quarter from the capital, crossing the island from east to west in your hire car. It is the tourist centre of the island and another of those places you must see in La Gomera.
In El Valle Gran Rey you'll find dizzying cliffs surrounding the bay with breathtaking views. But that's not all, as Valle Gran Rey is also the starting point for exploring the network of trails that run through the Garajonay National Park.
